These terms govern your use of the Kaal Jyoti API at api.kaaljyoti.com and of the developer site, documentation and dashboard at kaaljyoti.com/api — the endpoints, the pages and the account behind them are one service under one agreement. They are separate from the Terms of Use of the Kaal Jyoti mobile app, which is free and governs the app alone.
The short version. The API computes; it does not advise. You pay monthly or annually for a plan, which is a number of credits a month; each request costs the published credits of its API — a refusal costs nothing, a cached answer costs the same as a fresh one. Birth details you send are used to compute an answer and are never stored. You can cancel any time and your plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
1. Who this is between, and what you are agreeing to
These terms are an agreement between you — the person or company whose name is on the account — and GoAppsters Private Limited (“GoAppsters”, “we”, “us”), a company incorporated in India (CIN U74999DL2018PTC333768), whose office is at A-1601, Tower 2, NX One, Greater Noida West, Uttar Pradesh 201306, India. What they govern is the Kaal Jyoti API served at api.kaaljyoti.com together with the developer site, documentation and dashboard at kaaljyoti.com/api (together, the “Service”).
You accept these terms when you create an account, when you use a key, or when you pay for a plan, whichever happens first. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind it. You must be 18 or older.
Our API Privacy Policy and our Refund and Cancellation Policy form part of these terms.
2. Your account and your keys
- One account per person or company. Keep the e-mail address on it current; it is how we reach you about a failed payment, a security notice or a change to these terms.
- Two kinds of key, and they are not interchangeable. Secret keys (
kj_live_…,kj_test_…) are credentials: keep them on your own servers, never in a mobile app, a browser bundle or a public repository. Publishable keys (kj_pub_…) are meant to be visible in a web page, are accepted only from the origins you list against them, and are never accepted on the heavy endpoints. - Usage on a key is usage on your account. You are responsible for every call made with your keys, whoever made it, and for the charges arising from it.
- Revoke a leaked key. Revocation is immediate and is in the dashboard. Please also tell us at support@goappsters.in if a key has been exposed publicly, so we can watch for misuse.
- Do not share, sell or sub-licence your keys, and do not let a third party call the API on your account except as your own service provider under your control.
3. What the service is
The Service computes astrological and astronomical values from the inputs you send — charts, divisional charts, dashas, panchang, muhurta, strengths, KP, Jaimini, Varshphal, transits and compatibility — and may in time offer further features, including interpretive ones. What any given endpoint returns is what its documentation says it returns.
- Usage is charged in credits. Each API has a price in credits, published on the Credits per API page, and a request that is answered costs that many; a few routes are priced per unit (a pair in a match batch, a part of the kundli report). A request we refuse — a validation error, an invalid key, a rate limit, a quota stop, or a failure on our side — is not charged. A cached answer is charged, at the same price as a fresh one: you asked, you got the answer. What a request cost is stated on the answer.
- The price in force is the published one. The credits an API costs are those shown on that page at the time of the request. We may lower a price, or add a new API with its own price, at any time. We raise the credits an existing API costs only after 30 days’ notice by e-mail to every account.
- Plans and limits are on the pricing page. The credits included each month, the sustained rate, the burst and the monthly number of PDFs are the plan’s, as published on the pricing page, and are what the gateway enforces. Every plan may call every API; PDFs alone are not available on the Free plan. Included credits are a monthly allowance that resets on your billing day — the day of the month your paid plan started (or, on the Free plan, the day the account was opened) — and they do not roll over.
- Heavy endpoints — a month of panchang, a year-long transit scan, a batch match, a PDF — compute a great deal more than the others. They carry their own per-minute limit on every plan, and some are closed to publishable keys on every plan.
- What the limits actually do. Your plan’s per-minute rate limit is enforced by the gateway: requests over it are refused with
429 rate_limiteduntil the minute passes, and a refused request is not charged. When the period’s included credits and any credit packs you can draw on are used up, or hold less than a request costs, that request is refused with402 quota_exceededuntil the allowance resets on your billing day, or until you buy a credit pack or move to a larger plan. Nothing else is automatic: we do not watch your traffic for breaches, nothing pauses or resumes your account on its own, and any step beyond these two refusals is a decision a person at GoAppsters takes and tells you about under section 10. - Publishable keys are origin-restricted. A publishable key works only from the origins you have listed for it. Listing an origin you do not control, or attempting to list every origin, defeats the restriction and is a breach of these terms.
4. Payment and renewal
- In advance, by card, through Razorpay. Monthly or annual, as you choose at checkout. We never see or hold your card details. Annual is ten months’ price for twelve months.
- Tax. Indian accounts are billed in rupees, and the published rupee prices include GST: nothing is added at checkout. For every payment GoAppsters Private Limited issues a GST tax invoice, which you can view and print on the Plan page of your dashboard, and a refund gets a credit note. The legal name, GSTIN and billing address on your settings page when you pay are the ones printed, so add them before you pay; an invoice already issued is not reissued. Accounts elsewhere are billed in US dollars, and their invoices are for an export of services, without GST.
- Credit packs. On the Starter, Growth and Scale plans you may buy extra credits as a one-time payment, at the price published for your plan. A pack is spent after the month’s included credits, oldest pack first, and lasts 12 months from the date of payment, after which anything left in it lapses. A pack is not refundable (except where applicable law requires a refund) and not transferable to another account, and has no cash value. It counts only while the account is on the plan it was bought on or a higher one; on a lower plan, including the Free plan after a cancellation or a failed payment, it is frozen — not lost, and usable again on return to that plan or a higher one, until it expires. A pack adds credits only and does not raise a plan’s monthly number of PDFs. A pack does not renew.
- Auto-renewal. A subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next payment; it does not end the period you have already paid for, which runs to its date.
- Price changes take effect at your next renewal and only after 30 days’ notice by e-mail. If you do not want the new price, cancel before the renewal date.
- A failed payment is retried for seven days. If it has not succeeded by the end of that grace period the account returns to the Free plan: your keys keep working, at Free limits. We write to you when a payment first fails.
- Refunds are governed by the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
5. Use restrictions
You may use the Service in any lawful product you like — commercial or free, consumer or internal, in any country where you and your users may lawfully use it. There is no approval step and no category of application we vet. What follows is the short list of things that fall outside that permission.
You must not:
- resell raw API access as your own API — that is, expose our endpoints, or a thin pass-through of them, as if the calculations were yours to sell. Building a product, an app or a report on top of the answers is exactly what the API is for, and needs no permission;
- scrape, bulk-extract or systematically harvest output beyond what your plan is for, or build a competing dataset out of it;
- use multiple accounts, keys or identities to work around a quota, a rate limit or a price;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the engine, its ephemeris handling or its source from its output, or probe, scan or test the Service’s security without our written permission;
- send personal data about other people that you are not entitled to send — birth details are personal data;
- use the Service for anything unlawful where you or your users are, or to harass, defraud or harm anyone.
Attribution is not required. You may say your product is powered by the Kaal Jyoti API if you wish, but nothing obliges you to, and we make no claim over your product’s branding.
6. Nature of the service
Calculations follow the conventions we document — ayanamsa, house system, sunrise convention, time zone and the rest. Where traditions differ, a correct answer here may legitimately differ from other astrology software; see why results differ.
Interpretive content is offered for information. Where the Service returns interpretive rather than purely computed output — predictions, readings, numerology, or other features we may add later — that output is generated from traditional astrological and numerological rules, and is provided for information and general interest only. It is not medical, legal, financial or psychological advice, and no outcome is guaranteed. The same is true of anything you or your users infer from a calculation.
How you present results is your responsibility. Results depend on the inputs you send and the settings you choose. You are responsible for what you show your own users, for telling them what your product is and where its answers come from, and for what you and they do on the strength of an answer.
7. Availability and changes to the API
- There is no service-level agreement on the Free or Starter plans. We operate the Service with commercially reasonable efforts and no uptime guarantee. An agreed availability commitment is an Enterprise contract, in writing.
- Maintenance. We may take the Service down for maintenance, and will prefer low-traffic hours and give notice where the work is planned.
- Additive changes are immediate. New endpoints, new fields and new optional parameters may appear at any time, and your integration should ignore fields it does not know.
- A fix that changes an existing result gets 14 days’ notice by e-mail and in the changelog, except where the current behaviour is plainly wrong or a security or licensing issue requires it sooner.
- If we publish a
/v2,/v1keeps answering for at least twelve months from that date. An individual endpoint may be disabled immediately where it is being abused.
8. Intellectual property
We own the Service, the gateway, the documentation and the Kaal Jyoti name and branding, and nothing here transfers any of it to you. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to call the API and to use, store and display its output in your own product, for as long as these terms are in force.
You own your application and your users’ data. Astronomical and astrological quantities are facts and we claim no copyright in the numbers themselves.
9. Data, and who is responsible for it
Birth details sent to the API are processed and never stored. A request body is used to compute an answer and is then gone: not written to a database, not written to a log, and the response cache is keyed on a hash of the normalised request rather than on the request. What we keep is metadata about the call. The two lookups that take their input in the address, GET /v1/timezone and GET /v1/places, are in the access logs like any address. The detail is in the API Privacy Policy.
Where you send us your users’ personal data, you are the controller (data fiduciary) and we are your processor: we act on your instruction — the request — and for no other purpose. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to send it and for telling your users that a third party performs the calculation. A data-processing agreement is available for Enterprise accounts on request.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service, cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time from the dashboard. Deleting the account ends any credit pack on it; what was left in the pack is not refunded.
Abuse, a security risk or non-payment. Where a key or an account is being abused, where it presents a security risk to the Service, another customer or a third party, where the law requires it, or where payment has not been made, we may suspend the account or revoke its keys immediately, without notice beforehand. We will e-mail the address on the account where that is practical, and say what happened. Restoring access is likewise a decision we take and act on by hand — nothing resumes on its own.
Any other breach of these terms. For a paid account we will give written notice by e-mail and 30 days to cure the breach before we suspend or terminate. Free accounts may be suspended or terminated without a cure period.
On termination your keys stop working. You may ask us, within 30 days, to export the usage data and invoices held for your account, and we will send them. Sections 5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13 and 15 survive termination.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any result will meet your expectations or agree with any other software, or that defects will be corrected.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, however caused.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Where you have paid us nothing, our aggregate liability is limited to ₹10,000. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless GoAppsters Private Limited, its directors, employees and partners from and against any claim, damage, liability, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your application and anything you present to your users; (c) personal data you sent us without a lawful basis; (d) your breach of these terms; or (e) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For a material change we will e-mail the address on your account at least 14 days before it takes effect, and revise the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the change; if you do not, cancel before it takes effect and your plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration before a sole arbitrator appointed in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seated and held at New Delhi and conducted in English. The courts at New Delhi, India have exclusive jurisdiction for interim or injunctive relief.
