These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and GoAppsters Private Limited (“GoAppsters”, “we”, “us”) governing your use of the Kaal Jyoti mobile application (the “App”), a Vedic horoscope calculator. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Please read this carefully. Kaal Jyoti is a calculation tool. It produces astrological and astronomical calculations for personal, cultural, educational and informational purposes only. It does not provide predictions, professional advice, or guaranteed results, and we are not responsible for any calculation error or for decisions you make based on the App’s output.

1. Eligibility

Kaal Jyoti is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. By using the App, you represent that you are at least 18 and legally capable of entering into these Terms. If you are a minor, you may use the App only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.

2. Use of the App

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own lawful, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the rules of the app store from which you obtained the App. You agree not to copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or misuse the App or attempt to disrupt its operation.

3. Nature of the service

Kaal Jyoti is a Vedic horoscope calculator. It computes kundalis, divisional charts, dashas, panchang, yogas and related traditional calculations, and lets you export them to PDF. The App does not generate predictions, forecasts, reports, or personalised advice. Any interpretation of the calculations is your own or that of a qualified practitioner you choose to consult.

The calculations are offered for cultural, educational and informational purposes. They are not, and must not be relied upon as, professional advice of any kind — including medical, psychological, financial, legal, matrimonial, or business advice.

4. No guarantee of accuracy

We work hard to compute accurately and follow documented conventions. However, astrological calculations depend on input data, chosen settings (such as ayanamsa), reference conventions, device behaviour, and third-party data (for example, location and time-zone lookups). Results may contain errors or differ from other software or sources.

You acknowledge and agree that GoAppsters takes no responsibility for the factual accuracy of any calculation, and is not liable for any error, inaccuracy, or omission in any calculation, chart, timing, or export produced by the App, nor for any action taken or decision made in reliance on the App’s output. Always verify anything important with a qualified professional.

5. Your responsibilities

6. Free of charge & open source

Kaal Jyoti is free of charge. There are no subscriptions, in-app purchases, usage caps, or paid tiers, and we process no payments. Your download remains subject to the terms of the app store you obtained it from (the Apple App Store or Google Play).

App store terms. If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and GoAppsters only — not with Apple; that Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App; and that Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you. Equivalent provisions apply to Google for downloads from Google Play.

Open-source software. The Kaal Jyoti application is free software, released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3 (AGPL-3.0). Its complete source code is available at github.com/amitverm/kaaljyoti. You may use, study, modify, and redistribute the software under the terms of that license. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights the AGPL grants you in the software itself; these Terms govern your use of our hosted services (accounts, sync, Mahakosh, discussions).

Planetary calculations are powered by the Swiss Ephemeris, used under its AGPL license option.

7. Prohibited conduct & content

You agree not to use the App — and not to submit any content to the Mahakosh community — that:

We may remove content, decline contributions or requests, and suspend or terminate access, at our discretion, to enforce these Terms or comply with law.

8. Community contributions (Mahakosh & discussions)

If you choose to contribute a chart to the Mahakosh community, you confirm that you are entitled to share that information and you grant us the right to store and share it in anonymized form for community research, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the content you contribute. We may moderate, remove, or decline contributions and requests at our discretion.

Discussions. Community charts have discussion threads where signed-in users can comment under a display name they choose. By posting, you grant us the right to store and display your comments to the community. Comments must follow Section 7 (Prohibited conduct). Users can report comments and block other users; a comment reported by multiple users may be hidden automatically pending review, and our moderators may remove comments or restore them after review. You can edit your comments for a limited time after posting and delete them at any time; a placeholder may remain so replies keep their context. Repeated or serious violations may lead to suspension or termination of access (Section 14).

9. Third-party services

The App relies on certain third-party services to function — for example, location and time-zone lookups for a place of birth, and sign-in providers such as Google and Apple where you choose to use them. These services are provided by third parties under their own terms and privacy policies, and we do not control and are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or content.

10. Intellectual property

The App's source code is free software, licensed to you under the AGPL-3.0 as described in Section 6 — your rights in the software come from that license. Copyright in the Kaal Jyoti software is owned by Amit Verma; the App and its hosted services are operated and maintained by GoAppsters Private Limited with the copyright owner's authorization. The Kaal Jyoti name, logo and branding are not covered by the software license and may not be used to misrepresent the origin of modified versions. The charts and data you create remain yours.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless GoAppsters Private Limited, its directors, employees and partners from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use or misuse of the App; (b) any content you contribute to Mahakosh; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calculations will meet your expectations.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GoAppsters and its directors, employees and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the App or reliance on its calculations. To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability shall be limited to the amount you paid, if any, for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.

14. Termination

You may stop using the App and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to optional online features (accounts, sync, Mahakosh) if you breach these Terms or misuse the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and intellectual-property terms — will survive.

15. Dispute resolution & governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute, claim or difference arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the App shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration before a sole arbitrator mutually appointed by the parties; failing agreement, the arbitrator shall be appointed in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The seat and venue of arbitration shall be New Delhi, and the proceedings shall be conducted in English. The arbitral award shall be final and binding on the parties.

Notwithstanding the above, either party may seek interim or injunctive relief from the courts at New Delhi, India, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction for that limited purpose.

16. Changes to these Terms & general provisions

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy (and, for the software itself, the AGPL-3.0 license), constitute the entire agreement between you and GoAppsters regarding the App.

17. Grievance Officer

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made thereunder, the contact details of our Grievance Officer are set out below. The Grievance Officer may be contacted for any complaint or concern regarding content or your use of the App, and will endeavour to respond to complaints within 72 hours (excluding public holidays) and resolve them within the timelines prescribed by applicable law.
